LOCAL PASTOR/AUTHOR TO HOST BOOKSIGNING

Jackson, Tennessee June 8, 2021 Dr. Carmichael Crutchfield pastor of Mother Liberty CME Church in Jackson will be hosting a booksigning of his new book release “The Formation of a People, Christian Education and the African American Church” on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the church.

Dr. Crutchfield is currently General Secretary of the Department of Christian Education and Formation of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church where he has published numerous curricula. He is also Clara Scott Chair of Church and Ministry and Professor of Christian Education, Spiritual Formation and Youth Ministry at Memphis Theological Seminary

He has given hundreds of ecclesial presentations/workshops/seminars across the US and beyond. He has also given scholarly presentations at several Religious Education Association meetings. When asked why he chose this topic he states, “As a pastor and Christian Educator, I have come to understand that the goal of Christian Education is to form people into the image of Christ.”

Rev. Dr. Denise Janssen, Associate Professor of Christian Education states, “What a great day for the Black church for the whole church! The Formation of a People fills crucial void for Christian Educators by telling the story of faith, formation, past and present, from a uniquely African American perspective.”
