Local youth pastor, Martavis Williams, is releasing his first book.

Martavis Williams, also known as Pastor Mart , is set to release his first piece of literature on January 27, 2018. Straight Into Destiny: The Pursuit is Martavis’ first publishing.

Martavis is a native of West Tennessee and is a 2007 graduate of Jackson Central Merry High School. As a high school student Williams struggled academically, falling behind most his classmates. Williams worked hard and caught up and graduated on time. Williams later accepted his call into ministry and became a youth minister, later graduating with a degree in theology.

Williams realized his purpose in life after losing a classmate to gun violence. It became his goal to help as many of his peers discover their purpose through what they are passionate about.

His passion is to empower and inspire young leaders in their pursuit of destiny. He has hosted many conferences, workshops and outreach programs to empower youth and youth leaders to impact this generation with the Gospel of Christ through relevant teachings and different styles of artistic expression. He uses his social media to empower people all over the world daily through his “mart Says” and “mart motivation” morning posts and weekly with his inspiring live streamed videos he calls, “Destiny Chats”.

Williams began writing his first book during a very difficult time in his life. He had just gotten married and then his father in law passed only 17 days before his first cousin would be murdered. Williams, along with his wife Sheneca, had just accepted the position of youth and young adult Pastor at Destiny Church Of Jackson under the leadership of Pastors Danny and Rhonda Pettigrew. Although they were in a difficult season in there lives they knew the calling on their lives were more important. His book is an easy read, that uses personal testimonies, stories and biblical scriptures to help the reader pursue their Destiny.

The book release and signing will take place on January 27, 2018 at Destiny Church of Jackson, 621 Old Hickory Blvd. Suite P, Jackson, Tn 38305. From 2PM-4PM. Light refreshments will be served and book cost is only $12.
