Jackson Chamber Announces New Site Certification

October 12, 2021 - The Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, CSX Corporation, and the Jackson Chamber announce that the Highway 223 East Site has been certified through the CSX Select Sites program. This site also received recognition in early October after being certified by the State of Tennessee for its Select TN Sites Program.

The 316-acre rail-served site is a joint project between the Jackson Chamber, City of Jackson, and the Jackson Energy Authority (JEA).

“Having a shovel-ready, rail-served site with these certifications gives us a leg up over other communities as we continue to recruit new industry to Jackson,” Jackson Chamber President and CEO, Kyle Spurgeon said.

“When companies are searching for property to invest in, having a site that is certified allows us to be more visible for companies, the partnership of the Chamber, the City, and JEA has allowed for this work to happen,” said Mayor Scott Conger.

“Tennessee continues to offer a strong value proposition for businesses,” said Tom Tisa, head of business development at CSX. “Jackson’s Highway 223 East Site makes a compelling business case, delivering on our program objective to provide industrial companies with easier development decisions.”

“Company timelines are shrinking and decisions have to be made quickly on expansions and new locations.  If a community can prepare in advance, developing a site that expedites timelines, eliminates risk, and makes developing on-site easy for an expanding company; the community will be much more competitive and marketable to investors.  And that’s exactly what our community has done with the Highway 223 Site,” Jackson Chamber Vice President of Economic Development, Mandy White Said.
