FOOD NETWORK STAR CONTESTANT OPENS BAKERY/CAFÉ IN MEMPHIS

(Memphis, TN) - Chef Aryen Moore-Alston will celebrate the opening of Sweet Potato Baby Café with a ribbon cutting on Monday, October 24, at 4:00 p.m.   Her new fast casual dining restaurant is located on the first floor of the United Way Plaza at 1005 Tillman Street. The café is a delightful extension of the Sweet Potato Baby boutique catering and baked goods company she founded in 2014.

Chef Aryen is best known as the bubbly eclectically cultured competitor on season 10 of the popular TV cooking show Food Network Star. She was the first contestant from Memphis and Tennessee selected to be on the show. Chef Aryen started Sweet Potato Baby after her appearance on the show, and in just two years, the company has grown exponentially with a full calendar of catering clients and now the Sweet Potato Baby Café.  The public is invited to attend the ribbon-cutting and share in the excitement of her newest endeavor.

Last month, Chef Aryen Moore-Alston was voted Best Chef in Memphis. This week she was voted president of the American Culinary Federation, Memphis Chapter.  But she is really looking forward to celebrating this momentous occasion with the city she knows and loves.  According to Chef Aryen, opening a café has been a dream of hers for quite some time. "I am grateful for the opportunity to display my culinary skills and brand my products through the Sweet Potato Baby Café," says Chef Aryen.

Sweet Potato Baby has also been acknowledged by the Greater Memphis Area Chamber of Commerce as one of the "Top Ten Companies to Watch" and has earned the American Small Business Championship Award by SCORE and Sam's Club.  The public is invited to come taste and see how sweet it is Tuesdaythrough Friday.

The United Way Plaza building is the perfect location because it allows United Way employees and businesses located there a convenient place to receive delicious nutritious meals while providing the City of Memphis with an opportunity to taste Chef Aryen's traditional and uniquely crafted dishes and desserts. She enjoys creating dishes that are as eclectic as she is from her sweet potato baby cupcake to her macaroni and cheese hush puppies.

Sweet Potato Baby Café serves lunch from 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.Tuesday through Friday.  It is located in the secure United Way Plaza but to gain entry, simply ring the buzzer and say the password "Sweet Potato Baby."
