ETERNAL FLAME – UT Martin’s eternal flame was
“relighted” during a Nov. 28 ceremony in the university’s Paul Meek Library. A ceramic flame
created by retired UT Martin faculty member David McBeth (pictured placing the flame) now
sits atop the display that is located on the library’s second floor. Also participating in the
ceremony was Dr. Keith Carver (left foreground), university chancellor.
MARTIN, TENN., Nov. 15, 2022 – PAGEANT COURTS – UT Martin students Caleigh Jo Erwin, of
Dyersburg, and Karenna Rainey, of Adamsville, claimed the Miss UT Martin and Miss Tennessee
Soybean Festival crowns respectively at the combined pageant Nov. 5 in the UT Martin Boling
University Center’s Duncan Ballroom. The new titleholders will compete in the statewide Miss Tennessee
Volunteer Scholarship Pageant, Wednesday-Saturday, July 26-29, 2023, at the Carl Perkins Civic Center

We Care Ministries, Inc. will co-host the 19 th -annual Empty Bowls event on Nov. 19 in the Boling

MARTIN, TENN., Nov. 11, 2022 – VISITING WRITER – Author T.J. Martinson will speak at 4 p.m.,
Nov. 17, in the Campbell Auditorium located on the first floor of the Andy Holt Humanities Building.
The free event is open to the public and will include a meet-and-greet opportunity. Martinson is an
assistant professor of English at Murray State University, teaching courses in creative writing and
literature. He will also teach during the Young Writers Conference on Nov. 18 in the Boling University
Center.
