TBI THEFT & MISCONDUCT CASE YIELDS ARREST OF FORMER SHERIFF’S LIEUTENANT

 

NASHVILLE – Special Agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation have obtained indictments for a former lieutenant of the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office who stands accused of theft and misconduct.

 

At the request of 16th District Attorney General Jennings Jones, TBI Agents began investigating Jason Norris Mathis (DOB 2-19-76) on July 12th. During the course of the investigation, Agents developed information that, Norris took property seized during a prior investigation. The department subsequently terminated Mathis’ employment.

 

On Tuesday, the Rutherford County Grand Jury returned indictments, charging Mathis with one count of Theft and one count of Official Misconduct. On Thursday, Agents arrested Mathis and booked him into the Rutherford County Jail on $10,000 bond.
