TAMIKA MALLORY TO SPEAK AT UT MARTIN CIVIL RIGHTS CONFERENCE

MARTIN, Tenn. – The 23 rd annual Civil Rights Conference, sponsored by the University of Tennessee at Martin, will feature a final keynote address from Tamika Mallory at 6 p.m., March 6, in the Boling University Center’s Watkins Auditorium. The conference has addressed the theme “Who Will Stand in the Gap? – A Clarion Call for Justice Seekers.”

Mallory is an award-winning social justice leader, movement strategist and author of “State of Emergency: How We Win in the Country We Built.” Her presentation is titled “Intersections of Trauma, Mental Health, and Addiction in the Black Community,” and it will be moderated by Dr. Danny Pirtle, associate professor of criminal justice, and Hannah Bilger, graduate assistant for the Office of Multicultural Affairs.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will be livestreamed on UT Martin Webcasting via YouTube.
