Brooks Shaw’s Old Country Store Springs Into Action With April Events

Jackson, Tennessee – (March 29, 2024) – The folks at Brooks Shaw’s Old Country Store and Casey Jones Village are happily celebrating the changing of the seasons with an April schedule that welcomes sunny spring activities.  

Every Monday morning in the month of April, kids ages 0-10 are invited to explore their creative side by joining their friends at craft camp. Held at 10:30 a.m. in Casey Jones Museum’s Jackson Room, weekly craft camp offers seasonal crafts and light refreshments for children. 

Lunchtime Guests will continue to enjoy live music from 12-1 p.m. every Tuesday in the Delta Room. This month’s entertainment will include music by Bill Laarz April 2, Scott Myatt April 9, Lindsey Russell April 16, Justin White April 23 and Just Us April 30. 

Wednesday mornings will once again welcome children to Storybook Station at 10:30 a.m. in the Jackson Room of Casey Jones Museum. Upcoming stories include “Let It Rain” April 3, “I’m Glad I Have Siblings” April 10, “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” April 17 and “The Lorax” April 24. 

Testimonies at the Table will meet every Thursday morning from 9-10 a.m. in the Delta Room of the Old Country Store. During this time, special guest speakers are invited to share their personal testimonies with interested listeners. 

For a special treat during the months of April and May, Friday mornings will invite kids ages 0-5 (and their caretakers) to a free group folk music class with Miss Alice Hardin. Classes will meet on The Farm behind the Old Country store at 10:30 a.m. Participants are encouraged to bring a blanket to sit on and a toy instrument (optional). 

Friday evenings will still include live dinner music in the Delta Room from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Featured musicians this month will be Justin White April 5, Daniel McClain April 12, Hope Macgregor April 19 and Brandon Kirk April 26. 

Additionally, families are invited to stop by a special Petting Zoo on The Farm Saturday, April 20, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Admission is free to visit this collection of farm and exotic animals. Feed and concessions on site will be available for cash only. 

Brooks Shaw’s Old Country Store is a multi-faceted destination. Located at 56 Casey Jones Lane in Jackson, Tennessee, it encompasses the restaurant, Miss Anne’s Ice Cream Shoppe, Miss Juanita’s Gift Shop and the Dixie Café Takeout or Dine-In.
