Jackson-Madison Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is seeking women veterans to honor at their inaugural Women Veterans Day commemoration

          Jackson-Madison Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is seeking women veterans to honor at their inaugural Women Veterans Day commemoration on Sunday, June 12, 2022, 2:00 p.m. at VFW Post 6496, 285 Airways Blvd, Jackson.  

         June 12 has been designated Women Veterans Day in Tennessee to commemorate the Women Armed Services Integration Act signed into Federal law on June 12, 1948.   On May 17, 2021, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee signed the law designating Women Veterans Day on June 12 yearly in Tennessee.   

     Keynote speaker for the event will be Leanne Bruce Braddock, Commander United States Navy (retired).  Refreshments will be served, and door prizes awarded.  Jackson-Madison Chapter DAR will recognize all women veterans with a certificate of honor for their service to our country.

     Hard deadline for submission of names for the certificates is June 8, 2022.    

     Email your name for the certificate, branch of service, and years enlisted (example 2000-2005) to JUtleyDAR@gmail.com or phone 731-293-5055.

     DAR Service for Veterans committee chair, Jackie Utley, said, “Women have served our nation honorably and with valor from the Revolutionary War through the present day. We are so pleased to be able to recognize and honor their service and sacrifice to our country.”

     Jackson-Madison Chapter was chartered on June 14, 1901 and is one of the oldest and most active chapters in the state of Tennessee.
