JMC Library and City of Jackson Team Up to Host Grant Workshops

JACKSON, Tenn. – The Jackson-Madison County Library, together with the City of Jackson, are teaming up to host a workshop at the Main Library from noon to 1 pm on Tues., Nov. 19 to help area nonprofits learn about tools and resources for finding grants.

Led by adult services librarian Jenci Spradlin and special projects manager for the City of Jackson Lauren Kirk, this first in a series of three workshops will focus on how to conduct research for identifying grantmakers and locating available grants. One of the featured research tools will be the library’s new grant search database, the Foundation Directory Online, that anyone can access for free at the Main Library.

“We’ve been talking to the city for a number of months about how we can support the local nonprofit community,” said Spradlin. “One of the first steps we took was providing free access to the Foundation Directory Online. Hosting a series of workshops to not only feature that tool, but to provide additional relevant information, was our next goal in that process. We are pleased to have Lauren assist us with these workshops due to her expertise and experience in the grant writing process.”

Future workshops will focus on the grant writing and grant evaluation process that will be held on Jan. 16 and Feb. 13 respectively. There is no cost to attend these workshops and registration is not required.

The Jackson-Madison County Library is located at 433 E. Lafayette St. in downtown Jackson.  For more information, contact the Library at 731-425-8600, visit the Library’s Facebook page at Facebook.com/JMCLibrary or its website at www.jmclibrary.org
