#WestTNOutdoors by Sam Ray : Green Thumb Award

Each month the Town & Country Garden Club awards a yard of the month for exceptional landscape and appearance. It takes extra effort to keep lawns appealing because of the many areas that come into play. The grass is critical because everything else revolves around it. How the flowers and shrubs blend in with the big picture is critical for the look of a lawn. Some people prefer more annuals that bloom all year and have to be replaced each year while others prefer perennials that go dormant in winter and return each year. They require less work because they don't need to be replaced yearly. Blooming trees such as crepe myrtles are popular in West Tennessee because they are beautiful and only requires maintaining each year. Ray and Miranda Jones were awarded the Green Thumb Award for September from the Town & Country Garden Club. Gardening is a hobby and people can spend countless enjoyable hours in the yard daily enhancing Gods' green earth. You too will enjoy spending some time in the yard with your kids getting exercise while adding beauty to your yard in the Great Outdoors of West Tennessee.
