DAR Honored Local Vietnam War Veterans

Members of Jackson-Madison Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution [NSDAR] attended the February 22 meeting of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 995 to present DAR Certificates of Appreciation to the Vietnam veterans present.  Regent Beth Bates, Vice Regent Connie Kimball, Chaplain Virginia Bates, Librarian Mandy Williams, Linda J. Higgins, and Jackie Utley represented Jackson-Madison DAR at the meeting.

The veterans were called forward to receive the Certificate of Appreciation for their “Valor, Service, and Sacrifice” during the Vietnam War.  In addition to the certificate, each veteran was given a Vietnam War Commemoration lapel pin and a Commemoration button.

Jackson-Madison Chapter NSDAR joins a grateful nation in thanking these veterans for their service.

Jackson-Madison Chapter NSDAR is a Vietnam War Commemoration Partner.  Over 9,000 organizations across the nation participate in honoring Vietnam War veterans for their service and sacrifice during the Vietnam War.  March 29, 2016, has been designated as a day for Commemoration Partners to express their tremendous gratitude and support to this generation of Americans through ceremonies across the nation.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890 to promote patriotism, preserve American history, and support better education for our nation’s children.  Its members are descended from the patriots who won American independence during the Revolutionary War.  With more than 185,000 members in approximately 3, 000 chapters worldwide, DAR is one of the world’s largest and most active service organizations.  DAR is non-partisan and non-political, and welcomes any woman, regardless of race, religion or ethnic background, who can prove lineage to a Revolutionary War patriot.

Jackson-Madison Chapter NSDAR was charted in April 1901, and is one of the oldest and most active chapters in the state of Tennessee.
