Statement from Sen. Ed Jackson Regarding Grant for Dyersburg State Community College and TCAT Jackson
(NASHVILLE), November 7, 2019 --- State Senator Ed Jackson (R-Jackson) made the following statement regarding the announcement that two state higher education institutions in Senate District 27 will receive major grants under provisions of the Governor’s Investment in Vocational Education (GIVE) Act. Dyersburg State Community College will receive $1,000,000 under the grant program for the project titled CNA to BSN (C2B): A Prescription for Nursing Shortages for Rural West Tennessee TCAT Jackson will receive $927,580 for the project Jackson-Madison County Manufacturing Alliance: An Educational Pathway to Student Success.
“These grants create a pathway for our students to go from high school to TCATs or community colleges and obtain their degree or certificate early so they can head to the workforce to fill the jobs that we desperately need in this state,” said Senator Ed Jackson, co-sponsor of the GIVE Act. “TCAT graduates and skilled labor help power Tennessee’s strong economy, and I am pleased to see these funds serving the needs of our communities.”
