LANE COLLEGE ANNOUNCES OPENING CHAPEL SPEAKER
JACKSON, TN – Lane College has announced Mr. Kevin W. Williams as speaker for the Jan.
10, 2018 opening chapel.
Mr. Williams is Vice Chairman and board member of the United Negro College Fund
Foundation and Trustee of the Tennessee State University Foundation. He was previously the
Chairman of General Motors Canada Limited, the GM African Ancestry Network, and S.A.E.- A
World In Motion.
Mr. Williams earned a bachelor's degree in business management from Tennessee State
University in 1983 and a master's degree in business administration from Central Michigan
University in 1989.
“We are excited about the quality of chapel speakers this semester,” Dr. Moses Goldmon,
executive vice president and chaplain, said. “It is our prayer that not only will Lane students be
blessed and enriched by these speakers, but that people throughout the Jackson community will
also come and participate in our chapel services.”
Chapel at Lane is held each Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the J.F. Lane Health Building and is
open to the public. Opening chapel for the spring semester will be held on January 10th. Chapel
is an integral part of the college’s educational mission for students, faculty and staff. Each chapel
service is designed to encourage each other with the Word of God and to provide a supportive
environment where each member of the Lane community can better learn to serve Him in all
areas of life.
“Lane College is blessed to have a growing number of speakers to the Lane campus,” said Dr.
Deborah Rodgers, interim vice president for academic affairs, “and our chapel lineup for the
spring represents an important avenue for the college to bring visiting scholars to our Jackson
community.”
Lane College, an HBCU founded in 1882 with strong ties to the Christian Methodist Episcopal
Church, has instituted several visiting scholar and special lecture opportunities on campus during
the past year – including special guest lectures in a number of the college’s academic programs.
