FORMER LINCOLN COUNTY VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER INDICTED ON THEFT CHARGE

NASHVILLE – An investigation by Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has resulted in the arrest of a Lincoln County man on a theft charge.

At the request of 17th District Attorney General Robert Carter, on March 6th, TBI Agents began investigating an allegation of theft of money from the Mulberry Volunteer Fire Department by someone who worked there. In January 2017, Louis Burns was working as a captain of that fire department. During the course of the investigation, Agents developed information that from January through June 2017, more than $4,700 in donated funds were stolen from the agency, and Burns was the individual responsible for the theft.  Burns is no longer working at the fire department.

On Tuesday, the Lincoln County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Louis Lee Burns (DOB 4/08/1986) with one count of Theft over $1,000. Tonight, TBI Agents arrested Burns. He was booked into the Lincoln County Jail and released on his own recognizance.
