TBI CASE YIELDS AGGRAVATED ASSAULT CHARGE FOR MCMINN INMATE IN SATURDAY JAIL FIGHT

CHATTANOOGA – Special Agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation have obtained an assault charge for an inmate of the McMinn County Jail, in connection to a weekend altercation between two inmates in a holding cell.

At the request of 10th District Attorney General Stephen Crump, TBI Agents began investigating the incident that occurred Saturday evening in the booking area at the McMinn County Jail in Athens. During the course of the investigation, Agents developed information that Jerrod Ivan Jones (DOB 11-19-93) assaulted the other inmate, who – at the time of this release – remained hospitalized.

Agents charged Jones with one count of Aggravated Assault. At the time of this release, he remained in the custody of the McMinn County Jail.
