HOUSTON COUNTY MAN CHARGED WITH ABUSE OF A CORPSE

NASHVILLE – An investigation by Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has resulted in the arrest of a Houston County man, after the body of his live-in girlfriend was found in their home.

At the request of 23rd District Attorney General Ray Crouch, on Monday, TBI Special Agents joined deputies with the Houston County Sheriff’s Department in investigating the report of a body found in a home on Old Stewart Road in Houston County. Deputies had received a request to check on the welfare of Dorris Ann Braithwaite (DOB 07/02/1946), after family members indicated they hadn’t heard from her for some time. Deputies found her deceased and on the floor in the home. The investigation indicates that due to the condition of her body, she had been dead for several weeks or months. An autopsy will be performed to determine Ms. Braithwaite’s cause of death.

Monday night, the woman’s live-in boyfriend, Robert Calvin Mark (DOB 04/08/1954), was arrested and charged with one count of Abuse of a Corpse. He was booked into the Houston County Jail on a $750,000 bond.
