MACON COUNTY MAN ARRESTED, ACCUSED OF FIRING AT OFFICERS, ASSAULTING FAMILY MEMBER

NASHVILLE – Special Agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation have arrested and charged a Macon County man accused of firing upon law enforcement officers responding to a domestic incident in Red Boiling Springs on Wednesday evening.

At the request of 15th District Attorney General Tom Thompson, TBI Agents began investigating the incident that occurred at a home in the 100 block of Elzie Williams Road. During the course of the investigation, Agents developed information that, during an argument between Jack David Hutchinson (DOB 10-13-54) and his daughter-in-law, Hutchinson brandished a handgun, punched the woman in the chest, and fired the gun into the floor. A Macon County sheriff’s deputy and a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper responded to the scene. Upon their arrival, Hutchinson emerged from a shed on the property and fired at least twice at them. The deputy returned a single shot, which did not strike Hutchinson. Minutes later, the law enforcement officers were able to subdue Hutchinson with a stun gun and subsequently brought him into custody.

Overnight, Agents arrested Hutchinson and charged him with two counts of Criminal Attempt to Commit First Degree Murder and one count of Aggravated Domestic Assault. Authorities subsequently booked him into the Macon County Jail, where – at the time of this release – he was being held on $450,000 bond.
