NEWPORT MAN INDICTED ON ARSON AND VANDALISM CHARGES
JOHNSON CITY – An investigation by Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has resulted in the indictment of a Newport man on arson and vandalism charges.
At the request of 4th District Attorney General James Dunn, TBI Special Agents began working alongside agents with Tennessee Fire Investigative Services and the Cocke County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the circumstances surrounding a structure fire and vandalism that occurred inside the Fox Fire Riverside Campground in Hartford on October 17, 2016. The investigation revealed that Dakota Chase Wilde (DOB 12/20/94) set one structure on fire inside the campground and vandalized several other buildings and vehicles.
On Monday, the Cocke County Grand Jury returned indictments charging Wilde with one count of Arson, one count of Attempted Arson and one count of Vandalism over $60,000. Today, he turned himself in and was booked into the Cocke County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
