MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A former Memphis Area Transit Authority security guard has been sentenced to diversion for aggravated assault.

Adicus Mitchell, 52, pled guilty in March to aggravated assault involving serious bodily injury to bus passenger Robert Gray., 69, who had been making obscene remarks to a female passenger and who Mitchell was trying to remove from the bus.

Mitchell was trying to remove Mitchell from the bus when Mitchell shoved Gray and he fell face first on the concrete.

The medical examiner ruled the cause of death to be complications from blunt force head trauma.
