FORMER TREASURER INDICTED IN CHURCH THEFT CASE
KNOXVILLE – An investigation by Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has led to the indictment of a LaFollette woman accused of stealing money from the church where served as treasurer.
In January 2015, at the request of 8th District Attorney General Jared Effler, TBI Special Agents began investigating the theft of money from Glade Springs Baptist Church in LaFollette. During the course of the investigation, Agents developed information that Patricia C. Kitts was the individual responsible for stealing the money. Kitts served as treasurer at the church from 2012 to 2014.
On Wednesday, the Campbell County Grand Jury returned an indictment, charging Kitts, 46, with Theft over $10,000. Today, she turned herself in and was booked into the Campbell County Jail on a $15,000 bond.
