KNOXVILLE – An investigation by Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has led to the indictment of a former Sevier County Corrections Officer.
On September 24th, at the request of 4th District Attorney General James Dunn and Sevier County Sheriff Ronald Seals, TBI Agents began investigating the circumstances surrounding an incident that occurred in the Sevier County Jail the previous day. The investigation revealed that Anthony Rendina, an inmate at the jail, was causing a disturbance and was confronted by Corrections Officer Rudolph Guy Hayes. An altercation occurred, which resulted in Rendina being hospitalized.
On October 31st, the Sevier County Grand Jury returned indictments charging Hayes, 19, with Aggravated Assault and Official Misconduct. Today, Hayes was located at the home of a relative in Warren, Michigan. He was arrested and booked into the Macomb County Jail in Mt. Clemens, Michigan where he is awaiting extradition to Sevier County. A booking photo is not currently available.
