Open Position: Full-Time Firefighters Wanted

These positions are scheduled to be filled beginning July 1, 2021.

Firefighter - Full-time (Hiring 12)

Employee must consistently promote a professional image of MCFD at all times. Attend and interact positively and effectively in MCFD meetings, and when assigned, meetings with other agencies and the public. Consistently demonstrate positive, effective communication skills with the MCFD, Fire Chief, other employees and volunteers, other public and private individuals and agencies, and the community, including constructive dissenting opinion. Work in a safe manner, maintain a professional appearance, and positively represent MCFD at all times. Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of MCFD’s rules, and consistently and appropriately enforce MCFD’s rules. Perform other duties and/or tasks as may be assigned by the Fire Chief from time to time.

Firefighter/EMR Duties and Responsibilities

Respond to calls for service from dispatchAttend training courses; read and study assigned materials; related to First Responder level for emergency medical services and firefighting skills.Keep up State required training to maintain Medical License along with current BLS card.Maintain First Responder EMS kit, which includes restocking the kit, cleaning equipment, maintaining portable radios, and other maintenance as needed.Help maintain multiple stations when available.Complete any assignments that are assigned by the Fire ChiefAssist the Madison County Sheriff’s Department with transportation for individuals in need of emergency involuntary or voluntary hospitalization.Knowledgeable in the procedures and safety measures in area(s) of specialty.Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within field.Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.Performs a variety of tasks.Self – motivated, and must be able to multi-task

 

Mandatory Qualifications and Requirements

 

Not have been convicted of a felony or a misdemeanor involving "moral turpitude" as the term is defined by law and not have been released or discharged under any other than honorable conditions from any of the armed forces of United States.Minimum age 18Current valid Driver's LicenseHigh school diploma or GEDLift, carry and balance a minimum of 125 pounds equally distributed (250 pounds with assistance)Function in varied environmental conditions such as lite or darkened work areas, extreme heat, cold and moisture.

 

Desired Qualifications

Completed State level basic firefighter classState level EMR or aboveKnowledge of all EMR skills and protocolsIs well informed on current Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) issues, patient confidentiality, living wills, and DNR
